King of Thailand Plans Visit to Turkmenistan

King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand has announced plans to visit Turkmenistan. The statement was made during a ceremony marking the presentation of credentials by Turkmenistan’s new ambassador to Thailand, Muhammetniyaz Mashalov. The ceremony took place Feb. 10, 2026, in Bangkok, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said Wednesday.

Ambassador Mashalov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the Thai monarch on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The king congratulated Mashalov on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.

The meeting also reaffirmed mutual interest in further developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and Thailand in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian fields.

Following the ceremony, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow held a brief meeting with the new ambassador and expressed readiness to provide support and assistance in the fulfillment of his diplomatic duties.
