Turkmenistan invited Armin Laschet, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag, and members of the German delegation to visit the country at a time convenient for them, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov said Wednesday in Berlin. The invitation came during a meeting between Laschet and delegations from Central Asian foreign ministries.
Both sides praised the progress of interparliamentary cooperation and stressed the importance of strengthening ties between Turkmenistan’s Mejlis and the German Bundestag. They also discussed boosting the work of parliamentary friendship groups and proposed organizing regular meetings of parliamentary leaders and representatives.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation across all areas.
The Bundestag is Germany’s lower house of parliament and main legislative body. It passes laws, oversees the federal government, approves the budget, and elects the chancellor.
