Turkmen President Receives Special Award From WHO
Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov meets with Hans Kluge, director of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization, Feb. 16, 2026.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday received Hans Kluge, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Europe, who is visiting the country, state media reported.

Kluge presented the head of state with a special WHO award for contributions to advancing peace, unity and diplomacy in health. The award recognizes Turkmenistan’s consistent efforts to promote peace, solidarity and international cooperation, as well as to advance health diplomacy in cooperation with the WHO and the United Nations.

The president thanked the WHO for the recognition, saying it reflects the organization’s assessment of work carried out in the country and the results achieved in the health sector.

Berdimuhamedov said a high-level training seminar on global health diplomacy, in which Kluge will take part during the visit, will provide an important platform to discuss the current state of cooperation and exchange views.

The head of state reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand cooperation with the WHO, building on positive experience.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of best wishes.
