National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Panther National Golf Club and the La Victoria equestrian complex during a visit to the United States, Turkmenistan’s state media reported Saturday.
He was warmly welcomed by representatives of the golf club, who provided a detailed briefing on the design and construction of the courses and their distinctive features.
Berdimuhamedov reviewed the landscaping and quality of the golf facilities, noting that the golf course operating in Ashgabat has become a popular recreational venue for young people. Plans to increase the number of golf courses in Turkmenistan were highlighted, along with strong interest in cooperation with U.S. specialists with proven experience in the field.
He later toured the La Victoria equestrian complex, viewing thoroughbred horses and their living conditions, and inquired about training methods, competition preparation and jockey work schedules.
Significant potential for closer cooperation between the two countries in equestrian sports was noted. Berdimuhamedov said proposals from representatives of the equestrian complex aimed at expanding cooperation would be reviewed.
During the visit, Berdimuhamedov also met with Eric Stewart, executive director of the Turkmenistan–U.S. Business Council.
