Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Prince Edward in London on Feb. 25, 2026, at Lancaster House, a government complex of the U.K. Foreign Office.
During the talks, the sides exchanged views on prospects for further strengthening Turkmen-British ties, noting steady progress, particularly in culture and education, according to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.
Later the same day, at a joint working luncheon of Central Asian foreign ministers attended by Prince Edward, participants underscored the importance of the upcoming first ministerial meeting in the Central Asia–United Kingdom format as a key step in advancing multilateral cooperation.
The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted respect for the United Kingdom as a country with a rich cultural and diplomatic heritage. Significant potential was noted for expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation alongside the development of political and economic dialogue.
Meredov arrived in the United Kingdom on a working visit to take part in the first talks of foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the United Kingdom in the CA5+1 format, scheduled for Feb. 26 in London.
