Turkmenistan Voices Concern Over Escalation in the Middle East
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has voiced concern over the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, according to an official statement released to the media on Monday.

The ministry said it regrets that the escalation occurred amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation in the region.

As a state with a status of permanent neutrality recognized by the United Nations, Turkmenistan reiterated that all complex international issues should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of international law.

Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality plays an important role in promoting international peace, security and sustainable development. This legal status, recognized by a resolution titled “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan,” adopted by the UN General Assembly on Dec. 12, 1995, forms the basis of the country’s foreign policy.
