Kazakhstan plans to expand the Zhanaozen–Turkmenistan border road to four lanes, Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev said Tuesday at a government meeting, Zakon.kz reported.
The minister said work on a feasibility study for widening this section, part of the Turkmenistan–Russia corridor, has already begun.
Completion of the project is scheduled for 2026.
Major reconstruction of the road connecting Zhanaozen with the Turkmen–Kazakh border began in August 2025.
