The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Mr. Konstantin Kosachev held a meeting Thursday with Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Russia Esen Aydogdyyev and expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for organizational and logistical support in evacuating Russian citizens from a conflict zone, the press service of the Federation Council said.
During the talks, the sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, including interparliamentary interaction, as well as current regional and international issues.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which Turkmenistan chairs this year.
Kosachev noted that the program prepared by the Turkmen side features an extensive agenda and includes several parliamentary events. The Russian side expressed readiness to support them both bilaterally and within the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states.
Aydogdyyev confirmed Turkmenistan’s interest in exchanging experience in organizing events during the chairmanship and conveyed greetings and best wishes from the national leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Russian parliamentarians.
