The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine held a poetry marathon titled “Dialogue of Cultures Through Poetry” to mark World Poetry Day, the embassy said.

Representatives of the Turkmen diaspora and embassy staff took part in the event. The initiative aimed to promote the rich poetic heritage and strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties between countries through a dialogue of literary traditions.

Works by prominent classical poets of Turkmenistan and Ukraine were presented, including Gurbannazar Zelili, Seyitnazar Seydi, Magtymguly Pyragy, Volodymyr Sosiura, Lesya Ukrainka and Taras Shevchenko. The readings focused on themes of spiritual exploration and the relationship between humans and nature.

Participants used poetry to highlight universal themes that unite different nations and to emphasize the importance of cultural traditions and spiritual values. Philosophical and lyrical motifs were central to the program.

The marathon concluded with a reading of a poem by Magtymguly Pyragy in Ukrainian translation at his monument in Kyiv.
