Ashgabat will host the seventh meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation on April 16, 2026, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov reported at an off-site Cabinet meeting on Friday.
The deputy prime minister and foreign minister noted that the upcoming meeting will consider a number of issues related to priority areas for the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China, official Turkmen media reported.
According to the report, the agenda will include discussions on the development of transport and logistics cooperation along key routes China–Turkmenistan–Caspian Sea–Europe and Turkmenistan–China–South and East Asia–Asia-Pacific region.
Meredov said that following the meeting, a relevant protocol is expected to be signed, and a number of documents are being prepared to strengthen the legal framework of Turkmen-Chinese relations. The deputy prime minister and foreign minister also submitted a draft resolution to the head of state for consideration.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, after hearing the report, noted that the recent friendly visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to China was an important event in the history of interstate relations. He stressed the importance of thorough preparation and high-level organization of the upcoming meeting. The head of state signed the relevant resolution aimed at further developing Turkmen-Chinese cooperation and instructed the deputy prime minister and foreign minister to carry out the necessary work.
The meeting also reviewed and adopted decisions on a number of other important issues of state life.
