Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is attending the Regional Environmental Summit RES2026 on Wednesday in Astana, the press service of Kazakhstan’s president reported.
The dialogue platform, organized with the participation of the United Nations and other international organizations, aims to develop comprehensive approaches to the protection, restoration and shared use of ecosystems, water and land resources, as well as the preservation of biodiversity in Central Asia.
Speakers at the plenary session are expected to include Berdimuhamedov, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, as well as senior United Nations representatives.
Participants are expected to discuss key issues related to strengthening regional cooperation to achieve sustainable development in Central Asia, as well as ways to address environmental, climate and water challenges in the region.
