Turkmenistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vepa Hajiyev presented credentials to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on April 20, 2026, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN reported.
During a brief meeting following the ceremony, greetings from the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people were conveyed.
The sides exchanged views on key aspects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, including efforts to strengthen regional and global peace and security, advance preventive diplomacy and mediation, and promote sustainable development, particularly in transport and energy.
Hajiyev also met with Miguel Angel Moratinos, Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
