The number of general education schools in Ashgabat is planned to increase to 160 in 2026, Turkmen state media reported on Tuesday.
In the education sector, the number of preschool institutions is also expected to rise to 193, while the number of sports schools is set to reach 21.
Key infrastructure projects include a complex of buildings for the Turkmen State Architectural and Construction Institute with a capacity for 5,000 students, scheduled for completion later this year.
At the same time, large-scale urban development work is underway in the capital, including upgrades to the city’s architectural landscape, expansion of green areas, construction of new residential complexes and modernization of engineering and technical infrastructure systems.
