President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed officials to maintain control over the availability and prices of consumer goods, state media reported Friday.
The directive was issued during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting after a report by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev. The president emphasized the importance of ensuring stable supply and pricing in markets and retail outlets, as well as measures to provide the population with quality food products.
According to the report, retail turnover under the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations grew by 109.2 percent in January–April, while production increased by 100.2 percent.
Atagulyyev said textile industry output rose by 103.3 percent compared to the same period last year, including cotton yarn production at 102.2 percent, cotton fabrics at 100.5 percent and leather goods at 103.1 percent.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported a 119.8 percent increase in completed works, alongside seven exhibitions and five conferences held during the period. The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs reported growth of 108 percent in agricultural and food production and 105.8 percent in industrial output.
Other issues of state importance were also reviewed at the meeting, with relevant decisions adopted, the report said.
