Turkmenistan, Armenia to Foster Direct Business Contacts

Turkmenistan and Armenia have agreed to create conditions for establishing direct contacts between commercial entities and the private sectors of the two countries. The issue was discussed during a meeting between Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov and Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan, held on May 4, 2026, in Yerevan.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the participants emphasized the need to utilize and expand existing potential to increase bilateral trade. The sides also highlighted the key role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Armenian Commission on Economic Cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed gratitude to the Armenian side for the invitation to participate in the Yerevan Dialogue 2026, scheduled to take place on May 5–6.

During the talks, the diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to further developing political and diplomatic cooperation between the two states, noting that regular high-level contacts form the foundation of bilateral relations.

Regular consultations between the foreign ministries were identified as an important mechanism of engagement.

The Turkmen side also proposed holding the next Days of Turkmen Culture in Armenia as part of efforts to further strengthen humanitarian ties between the two nations.
