Meeting Between Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili, May 7, 2026, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit, according to Turkmen official media on Thursday.

Kvrivishvili expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and said Georgia places high value on its bilateral relations with Turkmenistan. She conveyed greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan from Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Turkmen president, in turn, extended his best wishes to Georgia’s leadership and expressed confidence that the outcomes of the latest meeting of the Turkmen-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, held in Ashgabat with the participation of the Georgian delegation, would further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of advancing major regional initiatives, including the Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport corridor, the Lapis Lazuli Corridor, and the Green Port project.

Both sides also underscored the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation in strengthening interstate relations, fostering closer ties between peoples, and promoting cultural exchange.

At the conclusion of the talks, Berdimuhamedov and Kvrivishvili expressed confidence in the continued expansion of effective bilateral cooperation and exchanged best wishes for the future.

The fifth meeting of the Turkmen-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was also held in Ashgabat the same day. The two sides reviewed the current state and prospects of trade and economic ties and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across multiple sectors.
