A delegation from Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Education, during a working visit to London for the Education World Forum 2026, met with representatives of OpenAI to discuss the potential use of artificial intelligence in the country’s education system, Turkmen state media reported Thursday.

The sides focused on the use of AI to improve the quality of education and promote AI literacy among schoolchildren, university students, teachers and administrative staff.

Representatives of OpenAI presented opportunities for the pilot introduction of ChatGPT Edu and similar solutions at selected educational institutions. Discussions covered teacher training, the selection of target groups, the safe use of AI, data protection and compliance with academic integrity principles.

The sides also discussed the possibility of including a research component in future projects to assess the impact of AI on education quality, student skills development and teaching effectiveness.

Potential next steps included exploring formats for pilot initiatives, identifying priority areas for AI implementation in education and considering the organization of a student hackathon and other practical events related to artificial intelligence.

The meeting confirmed mutual interest in developing cooperation in the responsible use of AI, digital education analytics and workforce preparation for future labor market demands.
