President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday received CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government, Turkmenistan’s official media reported.
Sergey Lebedev expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and the opportunity to meet, emphasizing that the Commonwealth highly values Turkmenistan’s contribution to strengthening cooperation and multilateral dialogue across the CIS region.
Welcoming Sergey Lebedev, the President of Turkmenistan wished the upcoming CIS Council of Heads of Government meeting every success and productive outcomes. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that discussions on key areas of cooperation would create conditions for reaching important agreements in the interests of the CIS member states.
As noted by the Turkmen President, the country approaches its chairmanship responsibilities within the CIS with a strong sense of responsibility. The head of state reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to continue making every effort to organize international events held under the auspices of the Commonwealth at the highest level, in line with the country’s traditions of hospitality.
President Berdimuhamedov also highlighted the significance of the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting scheduled for October 9 this year on the Caspian coast. According to the head of state, the summit will become one of the key events of the year. The forum is expected to focus on concrete proposals aimed at further strengthening the foundations of trust-based cooperation and giving fresh momentum to interstate relations across the Commonwealth.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev expressed confidence in the continued successful development of multilateral cooperation within the CIS and its enrichment with new substance, while also exchanging best wishes.
