An orphaned child at the Ashgabat Children's Home has been given the name Arkadag gyzy Gurbangul. On International Children's Day, members under the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship presented the child with a certificate confirming her new name, along with festive gifts, Turkmen state media reported on Monday.
The decision was discussed during a joint meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the Council of Elders of the charity foundation, held on the eve of Eid al-Adha (Gurban Bayramy). During the meeting, council members proposed giving a meaningful name to the orphaned child residing at the children's home. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, supported the initiative and suggested the name Gurbangul in honor of the sacred holiday of Gurban Bayramy.
As part of the International Children's Day celebrations, children receiving treatment at the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children's Rehabilitation Center also received gifts. Children being raised at the Döwletliler Köşgi in the capital were likewise presented with gifts provided through the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. Graduates of Döwletliler Köşgi received modern laptop computers on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
International Children's Day was celebrated across Turkmenistan with a wide range of festive events. The main celebrations took place at the Ashgabat Cultural and Leisure Park, where children participated in musical and dance performances, creative activities, and interactive games. Gifts and ice cream were distributed to young participants as part of the holiday festivities.
