TAPI: Construction of Serhetabat–Herat Section About 52% Complete

Construction of the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline along the Serhetabat–Herat route, being implemented with Turkmenistan’s participation, has reached approximately 52% completion, the Afghan news agency Tolonews reported on Tuesday, citing a post on social media platform X by spokesperson of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Hamayoun Afghan.

According to him, 80 kilometers of pipeline have been laid so far, 126 kilometers of pipeline corridor have been prepared, 108 kilometers of access and monitoring roads have been built, and 36.3 kilometers of pipeline have been buried underground.

Hamayoun Afghan also said that an additional 72.3 kilometers of pipeline have been delivered to the construction site.

The TAPI project is one of the key regional energy initiatives initiated by Turkmenistan and aimed at developing energy cooperation and strengthening economic ties in the region.
