The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a regional high-level meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty on Monday, according to the ministry.

The event brought together representatives of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, as well as heads of diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Opening the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Mahri Byashimova emphasized the significance of the Treaty as an international norm that strengthens trust between states and contributes to global stability.

She noted Turkmenistan’s commitment to efforts aimed at strengthening international peace, security, and advancing the disarmament agenda.

CTBTO Executive Secretary Robert Floyd expressed appreciation for Turkmenistan’s consistent support of non-proliferation principles, highlighting the role of Central Asian countries in strengthening international security and advancing the global nuclear disarmament agenda.

Participants of the meeting also noted the importance of the Central Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty and discussed further development of international cooperation in the field of disarmament.
