Turkmenistan and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC) discussed prospects for cooperation in the transport sector and the implementation of joint projects with financing support. The talks took place in Ashgabat during a visit by an IDFC delegation led by Managing Director for Policy Caroline Vick, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Railway Transport reported on Tuesday.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Railway Transport and was attended by Minister M. Akmamedov and industry specialists. Head of the State Service for Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan A. Shanazarov also joined the discussions via videoconference.
Representatives of the Turkmen side reaffirmed their interest in developing a long-term and sustainable partnership with IDFC, highlighting Turkmenistan’s strategic geographic position as an important link in international transport and transit corridors.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue dialogue and further explore promising areas of cooperation in the transport sector.
