Turkmenistan Approves Transport and Communications Tender Procedures

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on Friday approving procedures for conducting tenders in the transport and communications sector during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting held via videoconference, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

The decree was adopted in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “On Tenders for the Supply of Goods, Execution of Works, and Rendering of Services for State Needs.”

It establishes procedures for selecting suppliers of goods, works and services for ministries and sectoral agencies within the transport and communications sector.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Annayev reported on efforts to improve the performance of the sector, saying Turkmenistan continues to strengthen its material and technical base and update its regulatory framework to meet modern requirements. He submitted relevant proposals to the president for consideration.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov said the transport and communications sector plays an important role in the national economy. After hearing the report, he signed the decree and instructed officials to improve the work of relevant ministries and agencies.

The Cabinet meeting also reviewed a number of other state issues and adopted corresponding decisions.
