Turkmenistan and Slovakia Discuss Expansion of Trade and Investment Cooperation

The first meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Slovak Commission on Economic Cooperation began its work in Ashgabat on Wednesday. A delegation from the Slovak Republic, led by Deputy Minister of Economy Vladimir Shimonyak, arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the event.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of Turkmen-Slovak cooperation and prospects for its further development. The participants noted the friendly nature of bilateral relations, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.

The sides confirmed their readiness to intensify trade, investment ties and cooperation between business communities, as well as considered opportunities to expand cooperation in various sectors of the economy. Particular attention was paid to the importance of joint projects aimed at strengthening economic and investment cooperation between business entities of the two countries.

The meeting was followed by a working session and bilateral talks. The discussions covered trade and economic relations, cooperation in the energy sector, construction, transport, communications, information technologies, agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare, education, culture, sports and tourism.

The first meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Slovak Commission on Economic Cooperation will continue on June 18. A relevant protocol is expected to be signed following the event.
