The Turkmen delegation took part in the 11th session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held on June 17–18 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France reported on Thursday.
The delegation included the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to France and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Affairs, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and two national experts on intangible cultural heritage.

During the session, participating states reviewed a wide range of issues related to the implementation of the Convention, the development of mechanisms for international cooperation and the strengthening of the global system for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage.
Participants also examined the report of the Intergovernmental Committee on its activities for the period from January 2024 to December 2025, as well as the report of the Secretariat on the implementation of the Convention. Delegations discussed ways to improve mechanisms for the preservation, documentation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage elements, as well as to enhance the effectiveness of international cooperation in this field.
