Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the preparations for the upcoming state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held via digital system on Saturday, according to Turkmen state media.
According to the report, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, cooperation has been successfully developing in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural, scientific, educational, and other fields. The legal framework of bilateral relations currently includes 124 interstate, intergovernmental and interagency documents signed by the two countries.
Visits and high-level meetings between the Presidents of the two countries serve as a key factor in advancing cooperation. To date, a total of 16 official and working visits at the highest level have been conducted. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan also maintain effective cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
In the area of trade and economic cooperation, bilateral relations are being developed in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, communications, agriculture, industry, textiles and the food industry. Within the framework of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, various events in the fields of culture, art, science, education, and sports are regularly held with the participation of representatives from both countries.
Rashid Meredov stated that preparations are currently underway for the President of Turkmenistan’s state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan and that its outcomes will contribute to the further development of relations between the two brotherly countries and elevate them to a qualitatively new level.
After hearing the report, the Head of State highlighted that the Republic of Azerbaijan is one of Turkmenistan’s close neighboring partner countries. In order to further strengthen cooperation between the two states, he gave several specific instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister regarding thorough preparations for the forthcoming state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
