Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited several memorial sites in Baku on Monday as part of his state visit to Azerbaijan, the Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The President first visited the Victory Memorial Complex, laid flowers in honor of Azerbaijani national heroes who gave their lives for their homeland. During the ceremony, Mayor of Baku Eldar Azizov briefed Berdimuhamedov on the memorial complex.

Berdimuhamedov then visited the Alley of Honor, where Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev was buried. He laid flowers at Aliyev’s grave and paid tribute to the prominent Azerbaijani statesman and political figure.
According to the report, Aliyev laid a strong foundation for the dynamic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the strengthening of its international standing during his leadership. He is known as a statesman who attached great importance to developing and strengthening friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
