At the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, ceremonial events dedicated to Day of Cultural and Art Workers of Turkmenistan and Poetry Day of Magtymguly Pyragy were held in Kyiv, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on Friday.

Representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, members of the diplomatic corps, government authorities, academic circles, the creative community, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora and students attended the event.

The celebrations continued with an official reception held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine. In his speech, Turkmen Ambassador to Ukraine Toyly Atayev that the preservation and promotion of national heritage remain among the priorities of state policy implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, based on the initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Ukrainian side was represented by a greeting speech from a representative of the Central Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, expressed gratitude and confirmed Ukraine’s interest in the continued development of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

During the event, members of the Turkmen diaspora recited poems by Magtymguly in Turkmen and Ukrainian and performed musical pieces based on his works. A book exhibition featuring works Magtymguly Pyragy in various languages as well as scholarly studies dedicated to his life and legacy also organized,
