A Honda sport motorcycle presented by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during his official visit to Turkmenistan has been transferred to the Motorsport Center of Turkmenistan's Interior Ministry. A ceremony marking the handover was held at the center, Turkmen state media reported on Sunday.
Anwar Ibrahim presented the motorcycle as a gesture of friendship and respect during his visit to Turkmenistan earlier this month. The vehicle was previously raced by Malaysian rider Khairul Idham Pawi of the Petronas MIE Racing Honda Team, who competed in the 2024 FIM Supersport World Championship.
Gubanguly Berdimuhamedov decided to donate the motorcycle to the Interior Ministry's Motorsport Center, where authorities have sought to promote motorcycle racing through investments in equipment and training opportunities for young athletes.
As part of the ceremony, the center organized an exhibition of motorcycles previously donated by Berdimuhamedov to the Interior Ministry. The Honda motorcycle presented by the Malaysian prime minister was featured as the centerpiece of the display. Young motorsport enthusiasts attending the event were given an opportunity to examine the motorcycle, while professional riders tested it on the center's training track.
Anwar Ibrahim paid an official visit to Turkmenistan on June 18-19 and held talks with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The two sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade, energy, transport, investment and other sectors.
