The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held separate telephone conversations on June 29 with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, according to Turkmen state media.
At the beginning of the conversation, Mirziyoyev congratulated Berdimuhamedov on his birthday and wished him good health, family well-being and prosperity, as well as peace and development for the Turkmen people. Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan conveyed greetings from Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Uzbek leader, according to the press service of the Uzbek president.
According to the report, the sides highly assessed the current level of strategic partnership between their countries. During the conversation, they noted the steady growth of bilateral trade, the implementation of cooperation projects in industry, energy, transport and the effective operation of the Shavat–Dashoguz border trade zone.
The two sides also praised the outcomes of recent meetings of the Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission and Business Council held in Ashgabat. They further discussed coordination of the regional agenda in preparation for the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, which is scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan in October.
The same day, Berdimuhamedov also held a telephone conversation with Tokayev. The Kazakh President congratulated Berdimuhamedov on his birthday and highlighted his personal contribution to strengthening relations between the two fraternal countries. For his part, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to its fraternal relations and strategic partnership with Kazakhstan.
