National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Economy Minister of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov in Ashgabat on Tuesday, during the minister's visit to Turkmenistan, the Watan news program reported.
Jabbarov thanked Berdimuhamedov for the warm welcome and the opportunity to meet, saying Azerbaijan highly values cooperation with Turkmenistan across various fields. He also conveyed greetings and best wishes from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Berdimuhamedov thanked Jabbarov for the message and asked him to convey his best wishes to Aliyev. He noted, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan continue to strengthen bilateral relations based on the long-standing principles of mutual respect as neighboring countries.
The two sides noted successful cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats, particularly within the United Nations. It was emphasized that regular contacts at the highest state level contribute to expanding the partnership and create conditions for the further development of cooperation. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow highlihgted the significance of recent state visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan and again thanked the Azerbaijani side for donating the Dostluk oli tanker to the Turkmen people.
The sides paid particular attention to cultural and humanitarian cooperation. They noted the successful holding of the Days of Turkmen Culture in Baku and Ganja, as well as the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Arkadag and Ashgabat.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people also said preparations for the international Ene-tebigat exhibition, which will be held in Turkmenistan from October 19 to November 30. The event will be organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care. He said the exhibition would become another step toward strengthening cooperation between the two foundations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mikayil Jabbarov expressed confidence in the further strengthening of Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations and wished each other good health, well-being and success in their work.
