Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan discussed launching direct scheduled flights between Ashgabat and Baku twice a week during the ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Ashgabat, according to the news portal THP.
The two sides also reviewed ways to expand cooperation in transport, tourism, trade and investment, with participants focusing on strengthening the transit potential of both countries and improving transport links between Asia and Europe.
During the meeting discussed maintaining preferential tariffs for Azerbaijani vessels at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and accelerating the implementation of a project to lay a telecommunications cable across the Caspian Sea.
The meeting also covered plans to deepen business and tourism ties, including reciprocal business missions and familiarization visits to cities in Azerbaijan. The two sides signed a package of joint documents following the talks and agreed to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Azerbaijan.
