During an expanded Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed decrees appointing a new minister of culture and a new editor-in-chief of the Nesil newspaper, Turkmen state media reported.
The head of state dismissed Atageldi Ashyrovich Shamyradov from his post of Minister of culture due to improper performance of duties, and Gurbanmyrat Myradalyyev was appointed Minister of culture with a six-month probation period and relieved of his duties as Deputy Minister of culture.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov also dismissed Artykguly Khojaberdiyev as editor-in-chief of the Nesil newspaper due to improper performance of duties. Hallygozel Shanazarova was appointed to the post with a six-month probation period.
During the meeting, the newly appointed culture minister Gurbanmyrat Myradalyyev expressed gratitude to the Head of state for the trust placed in him and pledged to dedicate all his knowledge and efforts to his new position.
President of Turkmenistan instructed the Deputy prime minister to ensure strict oversight of institutions in the cultural sector, continue efforts to study and promote the country's historical and cultural heritage and literary values and attract tourists to historical and cultural monuments.
The Turkmen President also instructed officials to improve library and museum services in line with international practices, produce new feature and documentary films, make effective use of the production capacity of the Turkmen State Publishing Service and ensure thorough preparations for events marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence.
