Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met with Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad Anis Matta during a working visit to Indonesia on Monday and discussed the importance of an initiative to establish a Central Asia + ASEAN dialogue format. Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.
During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Indonesian cooperation, as well as key issues on the international and regional agenda. Particular attention was paid to cooperation between the two countries’ foreign ministries, with regular political consultations described as an effective mechanism for strengthening interstate dialogue.
The sides confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation within the United Nations and mutual support for international initiatives. Turkmenistan’s interest in consistently developing relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was also noted.

The meeting also addressed opportunities to increase bilateral trade, boost investment cooperation and implement joint projects in various sectors of the economy. The sides also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in education, science, culture, sports and tourism.
Ahmet Gurbanov also met with ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on Tuesday during his visit to Indonesia. According to ASEAN’s official X account, the meeting took place at the ASEAN headquarters, where the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and ASEAN.
