President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit, Turkmen state media reported on Tuesday.
Bakhtiyor Saidov expressed gratitude for the hospitality and noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to developing relations with Turkmenistan. He also conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Head of State and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked for the kind words and extended his best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan and noted that the current visit would open new opportunities for further developing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During the talks, the sides noted that Turkmen-Uzbek relations are characterized by a high level of trust and mutual respect. President Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the importance of various “Central Asia +” formats in promoting regional dialogue and economic partnership.
The sides recalled that during Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Avaza National Tourist Zone will host the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan. According to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, these events will provide additional momentum to strengthening regional cooperation and further developing the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides noted that trade and economic cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties remain key areas of the strategic partnership between the two countries. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to continue developing mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan and wished Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov good health, prosperity and success in his work.
