Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan published an article titled “July 15: The Declaration of Independence of the Century of Türkiye” to mark the 10th anniversary of Democracy and National Unity Day, the Directorate of Communications of the Republic of Türkiye reported.

In the article, Erdoğan described the events of the night of July 15, 2016, as one of the most serious attempted coups in the country’s history. He said the Turkish people responded with mass resistance, defending the country’s independence and constitutional order. “Resistance of 15 July is unparalleled in the history of world democracy” Erdoğan wrote.

The President outlined steps taken following the events of July 15, including structural reforms of state institutions, continued efforts against terrorist organizations within the country and abroad, and the launch of the “Terror-Free Türkiye” process, a component of the “Century of Türkiye” vision.

The article also highlighted Türkiye’s economic and technological achievements over the past decade, including developments in the defense, aviation and space industries, energy, transportation, healthcare and agriculture. Examples included the TOGG electric vehicle, the KAAN fighter jet, domestically produced corvettes and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Erdoğan also noted Türkiye’s growing role in resolving regional and global crises over the past decade.

In conclusion, the President said global peace, security and prosperity can be achieved only through a determined and uncompromising fight against terrorist organizations, without discrimination and through sincere cooperation.
