President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday received Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd, who is visiting the country, according to Turkmen state media.
Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd noted Tehran attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with Turkmenistan and conveyed greetings and best wishes from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. She also noted that the recent visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty to Iran and the high-level meetings held during the visit gave new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the guest for her warm words and expressed confidence that the meetings and talks scheduled during her visit with the Turkmen side would contribute to the further development of interstate relations.
During the meeting, the sides noted that trade and economic ties remain one of the key areas of bilateral cooperation. Iran is one of Turkmenistan’s leading foreign trade partners and the two countries continue to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport, communications, construction and agriculture sectors.
The sides also highlighted the role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in expanding contacts between private-sector representatives of the two countries. The commission’s work is aimed at identifying new areas of partnership and implementing in practice the agreements reached at the highest level.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd expressed confidence in the further strengthening of interstate relations for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
