Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso on Tuesday to discuss cooperation in energy, transport and logistics, the digital economy, environmental protection and water resource management, according to Turkmen state media.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted Turkmenistan is working to expand export-oriented and import-substituting production, support private entrepreneurship, diversify and modernize the economy, and attract investment to key sectors.
The President identified energy, transport, the digital economy and environmental protection as priority areas for cooperation with the EBRD. Head of the state said Turkmenistan is developing the North-South and East-West international multimodal transport corridors while advancing environmentally friendly green energy projects, noting that the bank has broad opportunities to participate in ongoing projects and new initiatives in the country.
Turkmen President also highlighted the importance of agricultural development and the efficient use of water resources, reaffirming Turkmenistan's readiness to expand cooperation with the EBRD in these areas.
Later the same day, Renaud-Basso held talks at Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the sides reviewed prospective transport and logistics infrastructure projects and discussed support for the development of regional transport corridors.
Following the meeting, the EBRD and Turkmen government agencies signed a number of cooperation documents.
