Turkmen mixed martial arts fighter Dovletjan Yagshymyradov has been appointed Goodwill Ambassador of the UN Friendship Games. The official certificate was presented to Yagshymyradov by Vepa Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations, at the UN headquarters, according to THP.

According to the report, the appointment highlights the importance of sport in strengthening international cooperation and promoting the values of peace and friendship under the auspices of the United Nations.

Dovletjan Yagshymyradov is one of the most prominent representatives of Turkmen mixed martial arts. During his professional career, he has recorded 26 MMA victories and has represented Turkmenistan multiple times on the international sports stage.

The UN Friendship Games are an initiative put forward by Turkmenistan. A resolution on holding the Games annually was adopted by the UN General Assembly in September 2024. The current competitions are the third edition and began on June 12, 2026.

The 2026 UN Friendship Games program includes competitions in football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, pickleball, chess, running and yoga.
