Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov proposed introducing a single tourist visa for foreign citizens visiting Central Asian countries. He made the initiative during an informal consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia and the President of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan’s national news agency Kabar reported.
During the meeting, Zhaparov highlighted the significant potential for developing cooperation in tourism, noting that shared history, cultural heritage and traditional ties provide a strong foundation for interaction among countries in the region.
The Kyrgyz President noted Central Asia and Azerbaijan have unique heritage, including ancient cities, monuments of the Great Silk Road, mountain and lake landscapes, national traditions and cultural diversity. In this regard, Kyrgyzstan proposed introducing a single tourist visa for foreign citizens traveling to Central Asian countries.
Zhaparov thanked the presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for supporting the initiative and proposed that foreign ministries intensify consultations to develop coordinated approaches. He also thanked Turkmenistan for its chairmanship in the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia and expressed Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to contribute to the successful organization of the next meeting, which will be held in Avaza on Oct. 8, 2026.
