President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has sent condolences to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi following the deadly earthquake in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture, Turkmen state media reported on Saturday.
On behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan, as well as personally, Head of the state expressed his deepest condolences and words of support to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
According to the Japanese government, the magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture on July 28, prompting search-and-rescue operations and emergency response efforts.
As of August 1, the official death toll had risen to 36, while rescue, recovery and relief operations were continuing.
