A new cultural and tourism complex Little Turkmenistan is planned in the Uzbek city of Bukhara. Prospects for the project were discussed during a working meeting between the Deputy chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee and representatives of the Turkish investment company Finwest Finance Company, the Eurasian Local Governments Union and the Uzbek-Turkmen joint venture SD TURKMEN HALY LLC, which specializes in producing and promoting traditional Turkmen carpets. Uzbekistan’s National News Agency UzA reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, the future complex will be dedicated to Turkmen culture, allowing visitors to learn about the history, traditions and crafts of the Turkmen people. The agency noted the project reflects the growing trend of ethnographic and cultural tourism in Central Asia, where dedicated cultural spaces are being created instead of individual souvenir shops or temporary exhibitions.
Bukhara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Uzbekistan’s largest tourist destinations. The city has longstanding historical and geographical ties with Turkmenistan, with the regions connected by the ancient Silk Road, shared cultural traditions and centuries of good-neighborly relations.
According to Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee, the country welcomed 11.7 million foreign tourists in 2025, up 46.8% from the previous year.
