Speaking at a government meeting, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said cooperation with Central Asian countries is of particular political and economic importance to Georgia, Russia's TASS news agency reported Wednesday.

According to Kobakhidze, Georgia serves as a key link connecting the countries of the region with the West through the Black Sea. He highlighted the results of the country's cooperation with Central Asian states.

Referring to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's official visit to Georgia in July, the Prime minister said the two sides signed a package of documents aimed at expanding cooperation across various sectors.

Kobakhidze also noted that Georgia established a strategic partnership with Kazakhstan during his official visit there in June. He added that several agreements were signed during his visits to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He also noted that relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan had reached a new level following Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Tbilisi.

According to Kobakhidze, the Georgian government intends to continue expanding cooperation with the countries of Central Asia.
