The Salkym company, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, is increasing grape exports, with a significant share of its harvest exceeding domestic demand shipped to Russia, Georgia and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the Rysgal newspaper reported Monday.
The company grows grapes, peaches, apricots and plums on a 40-hectare plot of state-allocated land in the Göktepe district of Ahal province. Most of the land is occupied by vineyards.
The foothill zone’s soil and climate provide favorable conditions for growing high-quality grape varieties. The vineyards are regularly maintained, including loosening the soil around the plants and applying organic fertilizers.
Proper agricultural practices allow the company to achieve consistently high yields of grapes and other fruit crops, including pears and peaches, some of which are sold on the domestic market.
The remaining harvest is stored at the company’s own refrigerated facility equipped with modern technology, allowing it to supply consumers with fresh fruit throughout the year.
