Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences to Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella over a deadly earthquake in western Colombia, Turkmen state media reported Wednesday.
On behalf of the Turkmen people and government, as well as personally, Berdimuhamedov expressed sympathy and support to the families and relatives of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Colombia’s western coffee region on August 10, damaging homes, schools and medical facilities.
According to the Reuters, more than 250 people had died as of August 11, with the heaviest losses recorded in Pereira and Cali. Rescue workers continued searching through the rubble.
