Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed the possibility of resuming direct air service between the two countries during a meeting between Uzbek transport and logistics officials and Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Shadurdy Meredov, Uzbekistan’s Transport Ministry reported on Thursday.
Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry, the Association of International Road Carriers, national carriers and transport and forwarding companies attended the meeting.
The resumption of direct air service was among the issues discussed as part of efforts to expand transport and logistics cooperation between the two countries.
The Turkmen side expressed readiness to consider the proposals and convey them to the relevant state agencies.
The talks also covered a broad range of issues related to transport links. The sides discussed increasing road and rail freight through the port of Turkmenbashi, reviewing weight and size restrictions, and other measures to create more favorable conditions for carriers.
