Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Petra Dachtler, the newly appointed ambassador of Germany to Turkmenistan, who presented her credentials during the meeting, Turkmen state media reported Monday.
Expressing gratitude for the meeting, the ambassador said it was a great honor for her to represent Germany in Turkmenistan. She conveyed warm greetings from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and National leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Dachtler on her appointment and wished her success in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The sides noted that Germany is one of Turkmenistan’s leading partners in Europe and that bilateral ties are based on mutual respect, trust, equality and consideration of shared interests.
The sides also discussed cooperation through the United Nations on international peace and security, sustainable development, environmental protection and climate change. They highlighted the importance of the Central Asia-Germany format for regional development, stronger economic ties and expanded transport connectivity.
The meeting also covered trade and economic cooperation, including the work of the Turkmen-German working group on trade and economic cooperation and the German Eastern Business Association. Opportunities to expand cooperation in health care, education, culture and humanitarian affairs were also discussed.
Dachtler pledged to make every effort to strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Germany and expand bilateral cooperation.
