National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a telephone conversation on the occasion of the first elections to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turkmen state media reported on Tuesday.
During the conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the President of Kazakhstan warmly congratulated each other and expressed satisfaction with the current high level of cooperation between the two countries. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also conveyed congratulations to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and on his own behalf, and expressed gratitude for his personal contribution to developing the traditional friendly and good-neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people for the congratulations and kind words. He also highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s support and the personal attention of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to the parliamentary elections held in Kazakhstan and expressed particular gratitude to the Turkmen observers who participated in the elections.
During the telephone conversation, the sides also exchanged views on the current state of Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian fields. They also noted the close cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in the international political arena and the importance of open and effective dialogue established at the highest state level in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said he greatly looks forward to the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the Akaba Process meeting on “Security in Artificial Intelligence,” which will be held in Astana in early November 2026.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the President of Kazakhstan for supporting Turkmenistan’s proposals to hold three important summits in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on Oct. 7-9, 2026, namely the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS and the Caspian Environmental Summit, and for confirming his participation in these forums.
At the end of the telephone conversation, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed confidence that traditional Turkmen-Kazakh relations would continue to develop successfully and wished prosperity and progress to the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
