Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences to Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Balendra Shah over floods and landslides in the country’s northern region that resulted in multiple deaths, injuries and extensive destruction, Turkmen state media reported Thursday.
The President expressed, on behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan, as well as on his own behalf, his heartfelt condolences and words of support to the relatives and loved ones of those who died in the disaster.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov also conveyed his wishes for a speedy recovery to those affected by the natural disaster.
A natural disaster occurred Aug. 26 in the Tibet region near the border between Nepal and China. The movement of glaciers and mountain rocks caused floods and landslides, damaging the Gyirong border area.
Search and rescue operations are currently continuing in the affected area.
