The 111th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held in Ashgabat in September, Turkmen state media reported Friday.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported on preparations for the upcoming meeting during a regular Cabinet meeting held via videoconference Friday.
According to the report, preparations are currently underway in Ashgabat to organize the meeting.
The meeting’s closed session is expected to address key issues of economic cooperation among CIS member states, as well as a 2026-30 action plan to implement a strategy for ensuring transport safety during international transportation. Participants will also discuss issues related to hosting the council’s next meeting.
The expanded session will consider the work of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification for 2023-26. Participants are also expected to review draft documents on a concept for developing cooperation in the production of critical materials for high-tech industries and an action plan for its implementation.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted Turkmenistan maintains effective relations with international organizations, including the CIS. The President instructed the Deputy Chairman of the of Ministers to ensure thorough preparations for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Ashgabat.
